Course Description

This 2-hour webinar—presented by an internationally-recognized expert on dealing with high conflict people--will provide invaluable strategies for dealing with Cluster B personality disorders and high conflict behavior, including domineeringness, vindictiveness, and intrusiveness. Attendees will learn essential skills utilizing the CARS Method® of conflict resolution: CONNECTING with statements that show empathy, attention, and respect (EAR); ANALYZING options and proposals in a structured manner; RESPONDING to hostility and misinformation in writings that are brief, informative, friendly, and firm (BIFF); and SETTING limits on high conflict behavior. Recognizing professional splitting--and avoiding it--will also be addressed.

About Bill Eddy, LCSW, JD

Bill Eddy is a therapist (12 years as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker), lawyer (15 years as a Certified Family Law Specialist), and mediator (15 years as the Senior Family Mediator at the National Conflict Resolution Center in San Diego, California). He is the co-founder and Director of Innovation of the High Conflict Institute. Mr. Eddy provides training worldwide on the subject of high-conflict personalities to psychologists, other mental health professionals, lawyers, mediators, and judges. He has presented in over 40 states in the United States, and 14 countries. He is the author of twenty books and manuals, including: High Conflict People in Legal Disputes, and Calming Upset People with EAR. RTI’s Policies

Attendance Policy: CE Credit and Certificates will not be issued to those who arrive later than 10 minutes or leave early from any course scheduled time. This policy is strictly enforced to ensure compliance with APA Guidelines.

Cancellation Policy: No refund will be given to any registered individual who is a no-show to an event, although the full fee can be applied to a future RTI event. Any registrant canceling more than 72 hours before the start time of the event will be refunded 50% of the event fee, or the full fee can be applied to a future RTI event.                                                            

The Relationship Training Institute (RTI) is approved by the American Psychological Association (APA) to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. RTI maintains responsibility for this program and its content.


In California, APA approved CE’s are valid for licensed psychologists, licensed school psychologists, LCSW, LMFT, LEP & LPCC licensees. Though APA is a national organization, the out of state licensee should check with their state governing board to make sure that APA approved CE's are valid in their state for their license.
