Ellen Stein, Ph.D., is an Adjunct Clinical Professor at Alliant International University in San Diego. Dr. Stein teaches the BOP/BBS required workshops in Law/Ethics and Domestic Violence for various schools, county health departments and mental health agencies across California. She is also a forensic expert offering assessment, expert witness testimony and treatment in both civil and criminal cases. Dr. Stein consults with licensed mental health practitioners who face either inquiry or investigation by the BBS/BOP. She is also a lead instructor for the AATBS, training candidates for the national psychology license exam (EPPP) throughout the Western United States. She has published extensively on legal and ethical issues. Her training workshops are known for her outstanding interweaving of valuable ethical training in an entertaining and engaging style.

Learn from the man who “wrote the book” on clinical supervision!

Edward Shafranske, Ph.D., ABPP, is Professor of Psychology and Director of the Psy.D. Program at Pepperdine University. He is co-author of the best selling Clinical Supervision: A Competency Based Approach published by the American Psychological Association and co-editor of the forthcoming Casebook for Clinical Supervision. A fellow of APA, Dr. Shafranske has received recognition for his teaching and contributions to clinical psychology. Having supervised graduate students through post-doctoral clinicians, he makes theory and research accessible to the everyday practice of clinical supervision.

This workshop is designed to build upon the existing competencies that clinical supervisors already have and to further enhance both knowledge and skill in conducting clinical supervision. Drawing upon concepts introduced in Clinical Supervision: A Competency Based Approach, this course will include an in-depth look at supervisor-supervisee characteristics, the supervisory relationship, best practices, ethical & legal principles, multicultural competency, risk management, ways to develop or repair supervisory alliances, and skills in addressing problematic supervisee performance. Emphasis will be placed on the “real world” challenges faced by novice expert supervisors in conducting competency-based clinical supervision.

Participants will identify and describe the core elements in supervision and processes to insure effectiveness and competent practice. In the workshop you will learn:

Sandra L. Brown, M.A. is the author of many books on surviving abusive relationships, including Women Who Love Psychopaths and How to Spot a Dangerous Man. She has pioneered the field of identifying profiles of women prone to attracting and tolerating narcissists and psychopaths. Her treatment program for “Healing the Aftermath of Pathological Love Relationships” is one of the first in the country to address this growing population of untreated women.

Chen Z. Oren, Ph.D., is a professor in the Clinical Psychology Doctoral Program at Phillips Graduate Institute in Encino, California, and the co-editor of Counseling Fathers.

William A. Eddy, LCSW, Esq., is President and co-founder of the High Conflict Institute. Based on his work as an attorney, mediator and therapist, he is the author of several books and specializes in training professionals to manage high conflict disputes.

James A. Reavis, Psy.D. is the Director of An Intrapsychic Clinic in San Diego and also Director of Forensic Services at the Relationship Training Institute. Intrapsychic provides analytic, attachment-based offense-specific treatment, risk appraisal, and forensic psychological evaluation to criminal offenders.

This ground-breaking workshop will introduce innovative new perspectives for making sense of what is often so hard for everyone in this field to understand: what draws women to psychopathic, narcissistic, and borderline men? Based on years of research had development of treatment models, you will learn the interventions that Ms. Brown has pioneered to help these victims understand themselves and to not keep making the same mistakes again and again:
